Mark is still in the process of building his model.

Please note that these do not represent my latest work. I create my profiles in Freehand and then model in StrataPro. I have recently come up against Strata's limitations as a modeler and have been learning Amapi in order to re-model it. (You can't beat Strata for rendering, but it has the darndest time with boolean functions.)

As a result, my research and Freehand work have progressed while my model has remained unrevised. I'll try to update the model to include nacelles and a few other refinements in order to post more images here in a week or so--even though this model will eventually be replaced by one created in Amapi.

Inaccuracies I know about in these images are as follows:

The deflector housing needs some tweaking. I have a new profile enlightened by a study of the Jeffries construction blueprint of this piece as published in STCommunicator a few months ago.

The trenches that cut into the secondary hull on the sides and undeneath are a little too deep. This can be seen by how far aft the flattened area extends in the side view.

I'm sure there are many other inaccuracies. Please point out any you find. That is one of the great things about a project like this. Informed criticism by all concerned will eventually get us within spittin' distance of the real thing.

All of my work is based directly on photos of the original model, or, in a few cases where the needed point of view was unavailable, on Greg Jein's reconstruction. For this I am indebted to William McCullars of the IDIC Page and many others who have generously posted their photos of the TOS-E. Along the way, I have been informed and inspired by the work of Charles Adams of Starship Builder, Thomas Sasser of Thomas Models, Petri Blomqvist, and most notably Jon Heilman. Jon's constructive critiques have been invaluable; and he has brought many details to my notice that I am sure would have eluded me for years to come. This guy knows the Enterprise! And his renders are still the most beautiful ever produced outside of Foundation Imaging.
